Our Downloads come in a few different file formats. Here is a guide to explain our downloading pages:
HI
THERE; Guy here. Here is my simple explanation and guide to
downloading files on the Bayside Church International website. If you
are new to the Internet or the concept of 'downloading', then you will
find this guide useful. So, let's get on to it...
-
Firstly, we have MP3 files available for download, which contain audio
recordings of messages (sermons) given at either a Bayside church
service, Bayside event or a combined churches event. - Here is an example of one:
| DATE |
TITLE |
SPEAKER |
MP3 |
| 13/01/08 |
In Christ, Our Righteousness |
Chris Blackeby |
10.6MB | -
You will see the DATE that the message was given on, followed by the
MESSAGE TITLE, the SPEAKER and then the MP3 file available for
download.
- In order to retrieve (download) the file, and
then listen to it on your own computer at any other time, Right-click
(with your mouse) on the blue link (in this case "10.6MB")
and then click the option which says 'Save As' OR 'Save Target As' OR
'Download File With...' [followed by the name of a download program on
your computer]. It is at this point that you then get to choose a
location for the MP3 file to be on your computer. Choose your location and hit 'Enter' on your keyboard, or click the 'Save' OR 'OK' button.
- Instead of
downloading the file to keep, you may just want to listen to the
message straight away and not keep the file. In this case, if you
Left-click on the MP3 link once, you're computer should automatically
load the file and start playing it. This will be dependant on whether
you have particular software installed on your system, such as Apple Quicktime.
- If you intend on burning the message to a CD for someone to listen to, this will be possible once you have downloaded the MP3 file, however, we recommend that you order a CD from us, due to the higher audio quality that a CD which we produce will have. Files that you download from our website have been reduced in quality, so that you aren't required to download large amounts of data. We retain the higher-quality audio recordings on a computer, which we use to burn to CD. If you request a CD from us, there will be no cost to this service. Email preaching@baysidechurch.org.au to order a message on CD.
- Secondly, alongside the MP3 link are occasional links that are under the NOTES heading. Most
of the 'notes' that we provide for downloading are in the file format
.ppt. This stands for 'PowerPoint Presentation'. Microsoft PowerPoint is a program used
for creating and viewing slideshows, as is Impress, which comes as part of the FREE office suite, Open Office. Occasionally a preacher may use a
visual presentation during their message, and we believe that these can
be of benefit for those who listen to messages that contain them. Therefore, we make this available for you also.
-
Another file that may be downloaded under the NOTES column is a .doc
file. These files open up in programs such as Microsoft Word and Open Office. These files
are editable. - One other file that may become available is a .pdf
file. This stands for Picture Document Format and these files open up in the free program Adobe Acrobat Reader which is
specifically designed to read these types of files. These files are
generally uneditable by anyone other than the creator of them. - Here is an example of what a file in the NOTES colum looks like:
| DATE |
TITLE |
SPEAKER |
MP3 |
NOTES |
| 06/01/08 |
Romans 9: I Choose You |
Chad Mansbridge |
8.7MB |
152kb | - By Left-clicking on the "152kb"
link, your computer will most likely ask you whether you would either
like to 'Open the file' (in Powerpoint) OR 'Save to disk'. If you open
the file straight away and then close the document without saving it to
your computer, you will have to download it again for future viewing.
To avoid this, download it and save it to your computer.
